Jameel Madhany is a Partner at Teplitsky, Colson LLP and a member of the Colson Group. Prior to joining Teplitsky, Colson LLP in 2021, Jameel practiced litigation at a national law firm and subsequently a regional boutique litigation firm. His practice encompasses a wide range of commercial and employment litigation matters with a particular interest in employment law. Jameel also has substantial experience representing litigants in shareholder disputes and real estate litigation. He has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada.
In the context of employment litigation, Jameel has represented clients in matters concerning wrongful dismissals, constructive dismissals, theft of confidential and proprietary information, breach of fiduciary duties, and restrictive covenants.
Jameel also has substantial experience litigating corporate and shareholder disputes involving allegations of oppression, complex fraud, unlawful competition, breach of fiduciary duties, and theft of confidential and proprietary information.
Jameel also practices real estate litigation and has experience litigating matters concerning cautions, liens, other title instruments, boundary disputes, construction/development disputes, certificates of pending litigation, and disputes over agreements of purchase and sale of land.
Jameel is a problem solver. He thrives on the challenge of efficiently crafting a tailored solution for each client, which sometimes requires innovation beyond the four corners of traditional legal practice.
Strengthening access to justice and maintaining social responsibility are important values for Jameel. He volunteers with Lawyers Feed the Hungry through the Law Society Foundation to provide meal service to those in need. He also volunteers as pro bono counsel for the Pro Bono Appeals Project run by Pro Bono Ontario, through which Jameel appears before the Divisional Court and Court of Appeal on a pro bono basis for those who qualify for Pro Bono Ontario’s services.
Jameel also prioritizes mentorship. In addition to mentoring students and young lawyers at the firm, Jameel acts as a mentor for students and junior lawyers through the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the South Asian Bar Association.
Jameel works directly with Bob Colson, Michael Winterstein and Chris West.
